Aviation Buyer/Purchasing Agent

SUMMARY: Responsible for procurement of assigned goods and services required to support Camtronics Group business units. Uses best procurement practices to obtain lowest cost and best lead times for assigned items. Develop relationships with strategic suppliers, brokers, and OEMs.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Included but not limited to:


  • Performs purchasing duties requiring necessary skills to plan and procure supplies, materials, equipment and services
  • Under supervision, prepares RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs for goods and services. Evaluates supplier proposals and updates software to communicate current pricing & lead time data to customer service for final quote preparation to end customer for repair.
  • Places purchase orders for goods and services in support of Camtronics Group business plan
  • Expedites purchase orders as required to support Camtronics Group customers
  • Resolves issues pertaining to purchase orders: receiving, invoicing discrepancies and timely closure of purchase orders
  • Has extensive contact with suppliers
  • Assist with creating “kits” when inventory arrives to be collected and issued to production per production sheet requirements
  • Interfaces with Camtronics Group team members at many levels, up to and including middle management
  • Utility player trained in shipping & receiving department.
  • Receiving of repair order to facility – create work order, tag, deliver to production for evaluation.
  • Shipping of completed repairs – utilizing Fedex, UPS, DHL web interfaces to create shipping labels
  • Packaging of products with care to ensure quality packaging of components upon completion of repairs.
  • No direct supervisory responsibilities
  • Other Duties as assigned

SAFETY RESPONSIBILITY: Duties shall include observing all company, health, safety and environmental rules. Purchaser will ensure that all Camtronics Group safety requirements are understood and observed by chosen suppliers and service providers as required. Maintain the entire work area to a high standard of housekeeping and low incidence of physical hazards. All accidents must be promptly reported to your supervisor or manager.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Demonstrated high levels of verbal and written communication, human relation skills and reasoning ability.
  • Experience with planning systems and requirement generation (Min/Max process).
  • Ability to effectively negotiate price, quality, and delivery schedules to maximize cost savings.
  • Superior contract negotiator with strategic purchasing skills and vision.
  • Full understanding of the legal aspects of purchasing and the ability to negotiate and manage contractual relations.
  • Ability to train employees in various procurement activities.
  • Excellent skills in multi-tasking, organization and prioritization of multiple projects.
  • Basic understanding of the Lean concepts and the ability to use supply chain management principles to support continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications especially Access, Excel and MSWord.
  • Conduct Supplier Performance review in conjunction with strategic objectives.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area preferred OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • QAVW software experience (not required but recommended)
  • Service purchasing experience strongly preferred.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND DEXTERITY: Employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time. Must be mobile within an office environment. Employee must have the manual dexterity (use of fingers, hands, arms, and shoulders) required to continually perform filing, manipulate computer keyboard and mouse and perform other desk-site duties. Extensive use of telephone, fax machine, printer, copier, scanner, and other office equipment typical of a business environment is required. The frequent reaching for and lifting of light to medium loads is required.


ENVIRONMENT: Normal business office conditions generally prevail. The noise level is usually low to moderate. Employee may be working in a cubicle, enclosed office, or open area. Floor may be carpeted or bare.
