Job Description:

Primary responsibility is TIG welding of aluminum, stainless steel and Inconel parts. Each job must be run with safety, accuracy and timeliness. Responsible for weld repairs to heat transfer components, fabricating weld fixtures, test plates and may assist with additional manufacturing requirements. Potential to support heat transfer aircraft components not limited to: testing, cleaning, troubleshooting, repairs, and inspection. Application of knowledge and instruction from Component Maintenance Manuals (CMMs) to evaluate and maintain aircraft components required. Effective welding requires the expertise and usage of proper equipment, ability to interpret drawings, and compliance with CMM requirements. Tasks will require experience in weld repair/recore of plate/fin heat exchangers as well as tube type precoolers/fuel heaters/coolers.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • The ability to read engineered drawings, and follow work order requirements.
  • Familiar with fabrication tools such as chop saws, belt sanders, air tools, etc. and able to free hand fabricate to drawing and tooling requirements.
  • Familiar with simple measurement equipment such as calipers, angle finders, and speed squares.
  • Prior experience using complicated weld fixtures and weld positioner (turntable)
  • Be able to set up the welding machine for specific materials, thicknesses, and positions
  • Create quality welds according to drawings/repair specifications & inspect welds for accuracy
  • Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping and cutting stainless steel/aluminum parts
  • Ensure all equipment is properly set-up and used in a safe manner and that all safety devices are in use.
  • Monitor equipment and request maintenance when required
  • Comply with FAA industry regulations
  • Follow customer’s special instructions and requirements.
  • Follow all company procedures and policies.
  • Follow all safety and security policies and regulations.
  • Back up department functions, cross-train in other departments and performs other duties as necessary.
  • Report for duty as assigned and on time.
  • Must be detail oriented, able to work independently, have strong time management skills, and be a skilled communicator.
  • US Citizen or a legally authorized foreign worker.
  • Read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to work extended hours on an as-needed basis


Required Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manual TIG welding of thin materials or detailed technical college training.
  • Ability to pass multiple weld plate testing in Steel, Stainless Steel, Aluminum, Alloys upon hire.
